Uncover the Myths about
Human Trafficking

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) states that identifying human trafficking victims can be challenging due to the covert nature of the crime, victims’ fear of retaliation, and traffickers’ tactics to conceal exploitation. Training and awareness are essential to identify and assist victims effectively. (IOM, n.d.)

The Polaris Project points out that traffickers can be family members, intimate partners, acquaintances, or individuals posing as friends or employers, exploiting vulnerabilities and manipulating victims’ trust. (Polaris Project, n.d.)

The National Human Trafficking Hotline highlights that victims may not initially recognize their situation as trafficking due to deception, manipulation, or coercion by traffickers. Some may believe they are in a legitimate work or romantic relationship, making it difficult for them to self-identify as victims. (National Human Trafficking Hotline, n.d.)

The International Labour Organization (ILO) emphasizes that trafficking can occur in legal industries as well, including hospitality, agriculture, construction, and domestic work. Exploitative labor practices can exist within legitimate businesses and supply chains. (ILO, 2017)

The National Human Trafficking Hotline reports that victims often fear retaliation, lack awareness of available resources, or may have been manipulated to distrust law enforcement or aid organizations, making it difficult for them to seek help or escape. (National Human Trafficking Hotline, n.d.)

Pivot Founders

We chose the word “Pivot” to describe this ministry because of the connotation of helping folks make radical changes with the end goal of turning towards Christ. Our passion is to help women pivot from the human trafficking industry and find a new job and freedom in Christ. Likewise, we desire to help the men pivot from the bondage of sexual addiction and abuse.

  • Pivot was founded by Scott and Ayame Crosley in 2018. Pivot is strategically aligned with Wipe Every Tear in the Philippines and Sowers International in other Southeast Asia countries.
  • Partnered with Wipe Every Tear (WET) with the goal of helping to rescue Filipina girls caught in the sex trade industry across Southeast Asia.
  • Partnered with Sowers International for continued work in Cambodia.
  • Our team lived in Hong Kong for the majority of 2019. We are now expanding our operations to South & Central America, as well as Asia.

Hard Rescue Approach: This necessitates working with local police and Government Organizations conducting raids to arrest perpetrators. This is the primary way to disrupt the growing online child sex industry and to rescue underage girls.

Soft Rescue Approach This is the primary approach and strategy for Pivot today. This involves creatively finding ways to access and befriend the girls in the bars and brothels, acquire time with the girls inviting them to Pivot towards Freedom.

Prayer Support
